Anya Hindmarch - Spring/Summer 2014
So she presented Cirque de Soleil for handbags. Models strode the catwalk wearing skintight scuba dresses as the perfect backdrop to show off beautiful degrade python totes in grey, yellow, green or orange, and shiny metallic clutches - before the venue darkened to glittering stars all around us and the huge planets hanging above started to rotate. Then bags were lowered from the ceiling to hang tantalisingly close so we practically had to sit on our hands to resist the temptation to grab them: her famous Ebury style in natural tan, mustard coloured clutches with huge tassels, and big boxy bags that you're just dying to fit your life in.
Then up they went, followed by two models whose airborne acrobatics could have been a dance in celebration of Anya's genius. No matter the fun she has though, these are seriously luxurious products - from metallic crisp packet clutches (light as air, you see?), to matchbox evening bags, they are made from the most supreme materials. Because a joke is all in the telling, of course.
With thanks to Mercedes Benz.
